East Pakistan must get full regional autonomy. They must be self-sufficient in all respect. And also they must get their share, due share, legitimate share in central administration and I am sure the West Pakistan people support it. It is the only vested interest of the people who want to divide the people of East and West Pakistan to exploit sentiment who wants to rule this country.

Journalist: If they have full share and that would be a majority share, does this fact mean the whole change of balance of power in Pakistan with the East in fact having much more influence over the West and running the West rather than West running the East:

Shekh Mujib:  How..how..how   If you believe in democracy then you must accept the fundamental rights of democracy – the majority rule, you cannot deny it, can you? But I think the people of East Pakistan have no intention to govern anybody and you see this is a democratic country and there is always political parties. Political parties cannot concentrate in one part alone. It must be all Pakistan basis. That West Pakistan party men of mine will get the same share, same responsibility as the East Pakistan people will get.

পূর্ব পাকিস্তানকে পূর্ণ আঞ্চলিক স্বায়ত্তশাসন পেতে হবে। তাদের সর্বক্ষেত্রে স্বাবলম্বী হতে হবে। এবং তারা অবশ্যই কেন্দ্রীয় প্রশাসনে তাদের অংশ, প্রাপ্য অংশ, বৈধ অংশ পাবে এবং আমি নিশ্চিত পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের জনগণ এটিকে সমর্থন করে । যারা পূর্ব ও পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের জনগণের আবেগকে কাজে লাগিয়ে দেশকে বিভক্ত করতে চায় এবং দেশকে শাসন করতে চায় (পূর্ব পাকিস্তানকে স্বায়ত্তশাসন না দেয়া) এইটা কেবল তাদের কায়েমি স্বার্থ ।

সাংবাদিক: যদি (রাষ্ট্রে) তাদের (পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের) পূর্ণ অংশীদারিত্ব  থাকে এবং এটি সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠের অংশ হয়, তাহলে এই বাস্তবতাটির অর্থ কি পাকিস্তানের ক্ষমতার ভারসাম্যের পুরো পরিবর্তন আসলে পশ্চিমের উপর  পূর্বের অনেক বেশি প্রভাব বিস্তার করা হবে  এবং পশ্চিম পূর্বকে  চালানোর চেয়ে পূর্ব  পশ্চিমকে পরিচালনা করবে।

শেখ মুজিব: কিভাবে..কিভাবে..কিভাবে আপনি যদি গণতন্ত্রে বিশ্বাস করেন তাহলে আপনাকে অবশ্যই গণতন্ত্রের মৌলিক অধিকার মেনে নিতে হবে – সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠের শাসন, আপনি অস্বীকার করতে পারবেন না, পারবেন? কিন্তু আমি মনে করি পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের জনগণের কাউকে শাসন করার কোনো ইচ্ছা নেই এবং আপনি দেখতে পাচ্ছেন এটি একটি গণতান্ত্রিক দেশ এবং সেখানে (গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে) সবসময় রাজনৈতিক দল থাকে। রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো একা এক অংশে মনোনিবেশ করতে পারে না। এটা সব পাকিস্তান ভিত্তিক হতে হবে ।  পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের আমার  দলের লোকেরাও পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের লোকদের মতো একই ভাগ পাবে, একই দায়িত্ব পাবে।
